October 1st-5th


  • Monday, October 1st is a student holiday. There is no school today. Enjoy your long weekend!
  • I will be sending home field trip forms for the pumpkin patch this week. Please return these as soon as possible and no later than Friday, October 12th. 
  • The last day of AR for the 1st 9 weeks is October 10th. Please encourage students to keep reading and taking tests. I know they are all capable of meeting their goals. If students meet their point and percentage goal, I will give them a bonus 100 in Reading. 
What We Are Learning: 
  • Reading, Grammar, & Spelling: 
    • This week we have a Unit 1 Assessment. It will cover all the topics that we have discussed during our first reading unit. Students will be tested on phonics, grammar, spelling, and a new, short reading comprehension passage. We do not have new spelling, vocabulary, or grammar skills this week. We will be reviewing in class this week. 
  • Math: 
    • Multiplying by 6
    • Saxon Lessons 30-31
      • Saxon Math Tests
      • Collecting Data and Tallying
      • Addition Facts: Adding 3 and 4
      • Adding Multiples of 10 Using Mental Computation
      • Estimating the Sum of 2 Two-Digit Numbers
  • Writing: 
    • Opinion Writing
  • Science: 
    • Inheritance and Variation of Traits in Animals
Important Dates: 
  • Monday, October 1st- No School 
  • Wednesday, October 3rd- Saxon Math Tests
  • Thursday, October 4th- Unit 1 Reading Assessment 
  • Friday, October 5th- Montgomery Zoo Trip 
  • Monday, October 8th- 6's Multiplication Test
