Dear Family,
November 12, 2019
Brrrrrrr!
Hello, winter! I’m sure you’ve heard the Veterans Day parade scheduled for this
evening has been cancelled due to weather. I saw beautiful pictures of our very
own Bailyn Brooks in the National Peanut Parade! Our Veterans Day program
Friday was spectacular. The flag retirement ceremony was very moving. Thank you
to Becky McPherson for the use of her flags we held when we sang.
Tomorrow we
will have pizza for lunch, courtesy of Katherine’s grandmother, to celebrate
Katherine’s birthday. No need to send a lunch.
A special thank you to Laney
Winkleblack for organizing our Operation Christ Child shoebox(es) project as
assigned to us by the SGA. Mindy Mogren, our Christmas angel, purchased the
goodies and we have TWO boxes. Please send money to reimburse Mindy.
We will
have our class picture taken a week from today, November 19. These are
purchased by PRE-ORDER only. If you want one, please send $10.95. We will wear
our nicest school uniforms.
We are
collecting cylindrical containers with lids to make drums at music. If you have
any to spare, send them all! Coffee cans and oatmeal canisters are great.
Our story this week is Einstein
Anderson and the Hurricane Hoax. Vocabulary and spelling words came home
Friday. The students are looking forward to the spelling this week as it is a
review list. We will also review possessives and contractions. We are trying so
hard to remember the word “apostrophe”.
In math, we
will learn to identify the perimeter of an object; subtracting a number from 10;
making a shape for a given perimeter; and constructing a number line. Continue
to work on addition facts and multiplying 10’s and 1’s.
Teaching and Loving Yours,
Miss
Suzann
